KEEP YOUR STOMACH CENTERED

Throughout the swing, make sure your stomach does not sway back and forth, forward and backward, or up and down.   The stomach is your physical center, a source of balance, which produces a powerful swing.  Your
stomach must never move during the swing.

When you keep your stomach stationary during the swing, your torso, shoulders, arms, and hands rotate horizontally around to your right during the backswing.  Your hips, legs, and knees start the downswing with a strong, lateral move to the left.  While your stomach remains stationary, your torso, shoulders, arms, and hands now rotate horizontally around to your left during the downswing and follow-through. Your stomach is the central hub around which your golf swing revolves.

When you keep your stomach stationary during the swing, your head stays still, in its address position.  It is critical to keep your head still at impact so your shoulders do not rise up early—taking your swing off the proper downswing plane.  Staying on the correct downswing plane ensures you will strike the ball solidly and deliver a square clubface at impact.
