DO PRE-ROUND STRETCHING

These 3 stretches will loosen-up and relax the muscles of your back, legs, hips, shoulders, and arms.  You will hit the ball farther with major muscle groups that are relaxed and free from tension.

1.      Toe Touch—With your feet at shoulder width, bend from the waist and reach your fingers toward your toes.  When you have bent down as far as you can reach, hold that position steady for 30 seconds.  This will stretch the muscles of your lower back and legs.
2.      Hips Twist—With your feet at shoulder width, brace your 5-iron horizontally against your back, held in place by the top side of your bent elbows held behind your body.  Now twist your hips as far as possible clockwise, then counter-clockwise, about 20 twists total.  This will stretch the muscles of your middle back and hips.
3.      Shoulders Twist—With your feet at shoulder width, hold your 5-iron above your head with straight arms, left hand holding the clubhead and right hand holding the end of the grip.  Now twist your shoulders as far as possible clockwise, then counter-clockwise, about 20 twists total.  This will stretch the muscles of your lower back, middle back, shoulders, and arms.

Taking 10 minutes to stretch before every round of golf will help you avoid injuries and muscle pulls.  It will maximize your coordination and the power that your muscles can deliver to strike the ball at impact.
